Going to the chapel to get married in Las Vegas, the courthouse, the registrar office or wherever it suits couples these days. How about underwater, parachuting out of a plane or on horseback? Weddings have become more bazaar with each successive generation. It’s a strange phenomena though. The most saintly or the most vile individuals want to wear white or something close to it. The color white symbolizes wholesomeness, cleanliness and objectivity. In order to have a wedding all three cryptograms aren’t necessary, but the time, patience, planning and dedication will be required of any wedding planner and others involved as well.
Although wedding ceremonies pre-dates recorded history, various cultures have myths concerning the roots of weddings or marriages. The means by which a wedding is carried out depends on the culture and demographics. Numerous cultures have their own interpretation on the derivation of weddings. For instance, a man may feel more secure as to the paternity of his children. In the majority of weddings both parties are validated and sworn to true love. Oh, if only were that simple. A wedding is a caricature of that love and after the most simple weddings or grotesquely ostentatious ones, who’s to say where the rest of the days of those filled with wedded bliss shall lead.
Diverse wedding practices have subsisted before man could spell or pronounce the word divorce around the globe. Some cultures provide wedding ceremonies only under certain conditions such as age restrictions, same blood relations and certain religious affiliation. In some cultures like certain parts of Africa the words “you are my wife” are all that’s needed. If truth be told, this is an economical procedure however slight of pomp and circumstance. There have also been superstitions surrounding the how and when of weddings. For example a full moon or marrying in winter means good luck. And in some cultures inheritance is more important than feelings.
Although a marriage is more often than not formalized at a wedding ceremony, the ceremony may be solemnized by a religious official, government official or by a state acknowledged cleric. In many countries any religious wedding ceremony must take place apart from the compulsory civil ceremony. Overall, a wedding is full of fantasy in the West and practicality in the East.
